What Joy Means to Me?
“Joy” is an English centre that taught me many things. When I was eight years old, my mother brought me to this English centre. Now, I am eleven years old. I studied at Joy for three years and today is Joy’s Sg Long Branch third anniversary. I am very happy to hear that. When I was eight years old, my English was very poor. After I came here, my English became better. My mother was very glad. My sister and brother came to Joy for a few months. Their English improved and their English exams are usually ‘A’.
I came to Joy for a few months then I stopped. In that one month I stopped, my English became terrible and I was very upset. After that, I came back to Joy. Joy helped me a lot in my English.
The teachers at Joy were very patient and good. Learning English at Joy won’t be very boring because they will let us play some games and it is fun! After we have finished two or three units, we will have an exam. The person who gets the first will have a present. So we will study hard to get the present. I am very happy that I chose Joy and I hope that many people will come to Joy to improve their English.

Why Do I Love Joy?
Why do I love Joy? Well, there are many answers to that question. For starters, I feel very ‘at home’ here. The surrounding is very friendly, harmonious and karmic. There are many amenities here. There are air-conditioners, a library and an office for the teachers, just to name a few. It is impossible to get bored here!
All the staff, in fact, everyone here is very friendly and well, joyful! Everyone at Joy possesses the spirit of unity and lives in peace and harmony, a spirit and quality we must all uphold in Malaysia.
Other than that I enjoy learning English at Joy. Learning English at Joy is a very fun filled experience that is very different from learning at school. There is an efficient class management, together with dedicated tutors, and friendly students. The Singapore/British English syllabus is challenging yet interesting to learn, and rewarding in the end.
Furthermore, there are activities and events that instill and evoke the student morale and confidence. The students would be able to do that through curricular activities, such as poetry and essay writing. Students could also participate in events like role-play and drama, which are very fun could bring out student’ creative ability.
To conclude, I wish a happy 10th anniversary to Joy. What started out as a small tuition centre 10 years ago has successfully become a multi-branch English haven.

What Joy Means to Me?
Joy means a lot to me. There are many reasons as why Joy is so meaningful to me. The main reason why Joy is so meaningful to me is that if Joy didn’t exist I wouldn’t be who I am today. It is because of Joy that I can speak English fluently and pass my English examination with flying colours. I have been attending Joy since it first opened then years ago.
I have been observing the growth of Joy for a very long time and I know almost everything about it from my observation. Joy is growing very steadily and is getting more and more famous with each passing day. Today, Joy is going to have its tenth anniversary. It has become very famous over the past few years.
Joy is like a second house to me and it has strived for a very long time to have this kind of popularity. I hope that Joy can last for another century to come for all to enjoy because I want Joy to help other people like how Joy has helped me. I want them to enjoy studying at Joy like I have.
Even though the fee for joining Joy is quite high, I still think it is worth it. I have learned a lot of stuffs and made a lot of friends here. Joy gives me inspiration on how to write a proper essay. Joy has also helped me with my speech which contains many errors in the past years and now I can speak even better than an average person.
This is what Joy means to me. I hope that by reading this, it can also get you to be inspired to attend English class at Joy and find out what Joy really means to you like it does to me.

Joy, My Root to English
Joy is a place where little children and young adults learn English. I, on the other hand, think Joy is my childhood haven, a place where I have a lot of friends and a place that makes me happy!
One day in the year 2001, I had no idea what Joy was or what I was going to learn. My little sister, Emilyn, my elder sister, Amy and I were sent here by our mother. Teacher Elsa welcomed us with open arms. In no time, we started to learn English by reading, writing and even speaking. Soon, when I first entered kindergarten a year later, I did well in examinations. Still I continued to learn English at Joy, taught by Teacher Elsa herself.
Year after year, I proceeded from lower levels to higher levels. After 8 years, I am now in the Secondary Pre-Intermediate level. Day by day, my English becomes proficient and I feel so happy each time I score ‘A’ in my English exam.
All these years, I have also witnessed many changes at Joy. First, some teachers have changed and new teachers come in. Second, more and more new students have come in. Third, Joy has increased from one centre to four centres and has become so popular in my neighbourhood. I am happy with the changes. Every time when I have stress, Joy is there to keep me cheerful.
These are the memories I have at Joy. I feel grateful to Teacher Elsa and her beloved centre, not only because they strengthen my English, it also brings me joy. I hope I could remain in Joy until I become an adult. I love Joy, and hope that Joy will keep up the good job to teach young students to master their English, because English is an International language.

What Joy Means to Me?
Every night since I was four I had dreamt of booking a plane ticket to America. Everything was perfect, the climate, the guys, the food, what ever. There was just one teeny weensy problem. Really, no kidding. Just one. I didn’t know anything whatsoever about English!
A visit from my mother’s friend changed that.
They were murmuring about English courses that would help boost up my current level of English. I was conceited back then, and was since I wouldn’t accept what dumb English course they would offer me. But, I was, in a good way, curious, and I sat on the floor and crossed my legs, listening to their conversation.
“It’s like a miracle! It’s very relaxing, and the teachers are angelic like you wouldn’t believe!”
“Oh really? You mean kiddies are interested?”
“I should think, quite.”
“I’ll make her go.”
Being morbidly curious-very, I accepted suspiciously, despite my row that wouldn’t.
The first day I went there, in my favourite shirt and my favourite scowl, I set off. A teacher, Elsa, met me there and introduced herself as the principal and smiled at me. She amazed me! She looked so warm, so genteel, that the volcanic tantrum I was prepared to throw left me immediately. I smiled back wanly. But from that moment on, my sulking and scowling went away. Bit by bit.
By the end of the day, I was grinning like some idiot kid who had just discovered the world was made of chocolate.
The lessons were placed conveniently twice a week. The lessons – for want of a better word – themselves were fascinating. They captured my attention irrationally, inconspicuously. Day by day, I learned the secrets of achieving perfect grammar, fluid vocabulary and so much more!
I’m eleven and proud to say I rarely fail to attend these precious classes, even being immature. These are classes like nothing else. I enjoy them, revere them, and cherish them. Being a student of Joy is a big achievement something to be really proud of.
I firmly believe I have a chance to go to America now.
